2010 continued to show us just how much junk comes out of Hollywood. Too many movies focus on effects and the sex. But occasionally, there comes a film worth watching-- a film that challenges you. And even in the midst of all the crap movies this year, there are still some that stick out. These are my Top 10 movies of 2010:
10.
How to Train Your Dragon- This family friendly movie is the best that Dreamworks Animation has delivered to date. Yes, its better than Shrek. The animation is incredible (as good as Pixar). I highly recommend this movie!
Rotten Tomatoes gives this movie a 98%.
9.
Exit Through the Gift Shop- This documentary follows several street artists in this provocative, often hilarious look at the world of graffiti. The main character is one of the most interesting characters you will see in a film this year. This documentary is available on Netflix and Hulu. Enjoy.

8.
The Fighter- Amazing cast + Great Story + Great Director = Knock Out. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo deliver amazing performances.
Rotten Tomatoes- 89%
7.
The Town- Ben Affleck may not have the best repertoire as an actor, but there is no denying his ability behind the camera. Could Ben Affleck be the next Clint Eastwood? Time will tell, but he is sure off to a good start with Gone Baby Gone, and The Town.
Rotten Tomatoes- 94%
6.
Toy Story 3- If you did not cry in the last scene, something is wrong with you. Pixar once again has delivered an unforgettable film. Pixar proves that you can still tell a good story, even if its the third part of a trilogy.
Rotten Tomatoes- 99%
5.
True Grit- The Coen Brothers have done it again! And so have Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon! This movie is a true western. Hailee Steinfeld also shows her versatility as a young actress, and has no problem sharing the screen with some of Hollywood's greats.
Rotten Tomatoes- 95%
4.
The Social Network- The epic tale of Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg. David Fincher is a master story-teller, and his young cast deliver Oscar-worthy performances. Without question one of the top 5 movies of the year. (Great soundtrack as well).
Rotten Tomatoes- 97%

3.
127 Hours- James Franco is amazing in this movie. Many people are shying away from this movie due to the fact that it is about a guy who cuts his arm off. This is a beautiful film about family, community, and the desire to be loved. I was blown away by this movie. Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) is one of the finest directors today. Cannot recommend this movie enough!
Rotten Tomatoes- 94%
2.
The King's Speech- This movie is exceptional. Collin Firth and Geoffrey Rush deliver the 2 of the best performances of the year. It's a wonderful tale of overcoming fear and self-loathing, and the people in our lives that are brave enough to speak the truth to us. I loved it!
Rotten Tomatoes- 95%
1.
Inception- Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins) has directed a masterpiece. It's complex, beautiful, intense, moving, etc. It's the kind of movie you need to see a few times to process, but the story is absolutely amazing. Hans Zimmer deserves the Academy Award for best original score. The music is amazing. This movie really has it all, and it is the best movie of 2010.
